Objective
Upon completion of this lesson, the CFI candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach helicopter traffic patterns (ACS HI.VII.C) by explaining and demonstrating proper traffic pattern procedures at both towered and non-towered airports/heliports. The CFI candidate will teach traffic pattern entry, maintenance of proper altitude (±100 feet) and airspeed (±10 knots), wind correction techniques, collision avoidance, and common error recognition and correction. The candidate will emphasize the unique considerations for helicopter operations in the airport environment and proper integration with fixed-wing traffic.

Towered Airport/Heliport Operations (HI.VII.C.K1)
At towered airports, helicopters must:
